Harare, Zimbabwe – In a historic moment, President Emmerson Mnangagwa assumed the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) at the 44th Heads of State and Government Summit, setting the stage for a new era of growth, development, and cooperation in the region.
In his acceptance speech, President Mnangagwa emphasized the crucial role of innovation in unlocking opportunities for sustainable economic growth and development. He urged member states to harness the power of science, technology, and innovation to modernize and industrialize the region.
“The time is now for us to realize maximum value from our God-given resources,” President Mnangagwa said. “We must deploy innovative strategies across all sectors of our economies to accelerate the realization of our collective development agenda.”
