Richard Tsvangirai wins in Norton Constituency against Temba Mliswa

The late Morgan Tsvangirai’s son Richard has won the Norton Constituency Parliamentary election, against Temba Mliswa

Richard who was representing Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) polled 13 089 votes, against Temba Mliswa who is independent and polled 7 518 and Constance Shamu who was representing Zanu PF and got 5 017.

The win by Richard Tsvangirai could mean that there will not be any independent legislator in the 10th Parliament of Zimbabwe.

Mliswa was one of the most vocal legislators in the 9th Parliament which started in 2018 to the 22nd of August, 2023.

He was very instrumental in championing the members welfare issues in the National Assembly, as other legislators stay clear of the matter due to the whipping system policy that exists in Zimbabwean Parliament.

The coming in of Richard Tsvangirai to Parliament adds to the number of young people who will be in the National Assembly, as other young people such as Gift Siziba won in Bulawayo, coupled with the 10 young people who will come under the youth quota.
