Is Parliament ignoring Fadzayi Mahere’s resignation letter?
There was no mention of Fadzayi Mahere’s resignation letter when Parliament resumed sittings this week from Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Mahere announced that she had resigned from being a legislator for the Mount Pleasant Constituency in solidarity with party leader Nelson Chamisa.
The legal practitioner-cum legislator went as far as posting a copy of the letter on her social media pages. (Facebook and Twitter).
‘’Thank you, Mt Pleasant Constituency for having faith in me. Despite feeling a profound sense of sadness for all I had hoped we could do together to build a pleasant Mt Pleasant, I have officially submitted my resignation from Parliament and will cease to be a member of CCC,’’ read the caption that accompanied the picture of the letter.
However, when Parliament especially the National Assembly sat on Tuesday 30 January, and Wednesday 31 January (2023), there was no announcement of the resignation by Deputy Speaker Tsitsi Gezi who presided over the sittings.
This has resulted in some people wondering whether Parliament is ignoring her letter.
