#ElectionsZW: Mwonzora dares Chamisa, ‘’use our name and you will see’’
MDC- T president Douglas Mwonzora has warned MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa against using the name in by-elections adding that the law will deal with him.
Mwonzora said his party even though it is MDC-T it will participate in the by-elections as MDC Alliance in line with the Alliance Agreement signed in 2017.
Addressing a press briefing, Mwonzora said the name MDC Alliance belonged to his group as outlined in the alliance pact signed in 2017.
“Those people who do not own the name can use other names. There are a plethora of names in this country. And they have said, ‘I quote them they said there is nothing in a name. When we made the decision that we are going to use the name Mr. Chamisa was not a relevant consideration, our consideration was that we want to perpetuate the name,’’ he said.
“We are going to win in these upcoming by-elections anyone who wants to use our name will meet us in any forum. We are going to field 100% candidates in Parliament and 100% in local government,” he said
Mwonzora added that he does not care about Chamisa’s political interests, and he does not expect the same because they are political opponents.
“I do not take care of his political interest and he cannot expect that from a political opponent. I am a political opponent in this election.
‘’I am a political opponent of Mnangagwa, I am an opponent of Advocate Chamisa if he chooses to field candidates. I am also an opponent of whoever is fielding candidates in this election” added Mwonzora
“Our chairman gave you a hint two years ago, that the name is ours as an MDC Alliance. No one has been disallowed to form an alliance with parties that think like them,” added Mwonzora-
