#ElectionsZW: Masarira, Zimudzi castigate Khupe, “you are embarrassing women”
LEAD president Linda Masarira and activist Vongai Zimudzi have castigated Thokozani Khupe for breaking away from MDC-T, arguing that she is embarrassing women.
Khupe announced that she is splitting with Douglas Mwonzora. The two failed to find each other since the December 2020 extraordinary Congress.
According to Khupe, Mwonzora rigged the congress and that it was also not properly constituted.
Efforts to mend bridges failed on several occasions as the two politicians were in the habit of sending out conflicting statements.
The camel broke its back when Khupe approached the court to block Mwonzora from recalling her from Parliament.
Mwonzora countered by suspending Khupe pending investigations.
However, Khupe could have none of it as she hosted a press conference in Bulawayo to announce the split.
Commenting on the issue Masarira said Khupe was just the same with Grace Mugabe in terms of embarrassing women.
‘’I feel sorry for MDC supporters who always have to be towing a particular line with nothing progressive happening.
‘’@DrThoko_Khupe is now proving to be a liability to Zim political economy. Thoko naGrace gedye gedye chabuda hapana. Please stop embarrassing us women with your drama,’’ she said.
Stop embarrassing female politicians
Activist Vongai Zimudzi also took to Twitter to register her displeasure with Khupe’s stance.
‘’Sis @DrThoko_Khupe if you are as powerful as you presume, why don’t you form your own party like what @lilomatic (Linda Masarira) did and stop embarrassing female politicians in ???????? (Zimbabwe).
‘’You always sell a narrative that some political players are out to get you. Prove them wrong, and form your own party,’’ she said.
Some people who commented on Masarira’s post highlighted that she was castigating Khupe as revenge for sacking her from MDC-T.
Masarira who was once a spokesperson for the MDC-T formation that was led by Khupe was sacked after she shared pictures of herself wearing Zanu PF regalia.
