#ElectionsZW: Mwonzora offered me positions to betray Chamisa, but I refused says Matewu

By Karen Nyeraurombo

Former Marondera Central legislator Caston Matewu says MDC-T which is led by Douglas Mwonzora offered top posts to betray Nelson Chamisa.

Matewu was recalled from Parliament for allegedly supporting a party that is different from the one that sponsored him.

Speaking on OpenParly’s program The Debate, Matewu said in the process he lost everything including the car.

He said he does not regret his undying support for Chamisa and for standing with the people.

‘’I was offered many positions in the MDC-T, but I said no I will not betray my president, Nelson Chamisa.

“The car was taken away from me. I lost all the Parliament benefits and salaries but at the end of the day it’s not about me but the people of Marondera who need representation.

“You have got (Emmerson) Mnangagwa and Mwonzora in bed together, they are working hand in glove.

‘’I believe when I was recalled I was not in the standing committee, and I was not a provincial chairperson, but I found myself being recalled from Parliament yet the main people they were recalling were actually standing committee members.

“So, I wondered why I was recalled but then I found out it was a Zanu PF project, and they didn’t want me by all means necessary in parliament so that I don’t talk or expose all the shenanigans that was happening in Parliament,’’ he said.

According to Matewu, being elected to Parliament in 2018 helped him come face to face with what bad governance looks like.

Matewu added that during his time in Parliament, he debated every bill that was introduced.

“When I went into Parliament, I actually saw what bad governance is. So, I stand on that experience of me being in Parliament and see all the wrongs and I’m trying to make a change. Most of Zanu PF legislators do not actually debate in Parliament.

“I think I debated in every single bill that came in Parliament including the issue of agriculture, specifically Command Agriculture and how billions and billions were being taken away by unscrupulous executives,’’ he said.
