Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MP for Binga North, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, has accused the 216 legislators who voted in support of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) of having received bribes.
Responding to Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi celebrating the passage of the Bill, Sibanda said there was no cause for such.
“Ziyambi should stop celebrating bribery.
“Each MP who voted Yes was given US$30 000. $10 000 was paid as a deposit before voting.
“US$20 000 was given after voting in Parliament’s room 435. CAB3 didn’t pass because it’s loved in Parliament.
“The people will stop this,” he said.
A total of 216 legislators supported CAB3, with 181 from ZANU-PF and 35 from CCC.
The decision by the 35 opposition MPs has drawn much criticism, with accusations that they have sold out.
Below are the names of the 35 legislators who crossed the floor to vote in support of the Bill, which is meant to extend President Mnagagwa’s time in office.

On Thursday, the National Assembly overwhelmingly adopted the Bill, as correctly predicted in this article posted here.
It seeks to extend President Mnangagwa’s second, and supposedly final term, to 2030.
The bill now moves to the upper house of parliament, where it is also expected to sail through as Mnangagwa’s governing Zanu-PF party also controls it.
Critics of CAB3 fear that the extension is merely the first step in a long-term plan never to relinquish power.
Vice President Chiwenga is believed to be a target of some of the changes meant to block his ambitious leap for power against those preferred by ED.
