Ester Excellia Zitha, widow of the late MP for Nkulumane, Desire Moyo, will contest against her husband’s former party as she promises to complete her husband’s vision.
Desire Moyo passed away on 10 October after a road traffic accident.
His party, has chosen Mothusi Ndlovu to represent it in the by-election scheduled for December 20.
However, Zitha has positioned herself as a direct successor to her husband’s work by standing as an independent candidate.
She has emphasized continuity and shared purpose with the electorate as key.
“There is so much unfinished business left behind by my husband.
“I think I’m the rightful candidate to fulfil this.
“I was doing the work together with my late husband and the people of Nkulumane need that to be done.
“It’s good to continue working with them.”
Zitha asserted that her intimate knowledge of the constituency’s plans makes her the most suitable leader.
“I have the vision and knowledge of the plans we had for Nkulumane.
“Where we started, and where we are going.
“That makes me the rightful candidate to lead Nkulumane Constituency.
“His death does not mean the end of the road, I’m here so that we work together as Nkulumane people.”
Zitha will battle it out with Freedom Murechu (ZANU-PF), Mothusi Ndlovu (Citizens Coalition for Change – CCC) and Vivian Viyo Sibanda (Zapu).
The other contestants are Ethel Sibanda (MDC-T), Alderman Rodney Jele (Independent), Mbuso Fuzwayo (Independent) and Alson Moyo (Economic Freedom Fighters – EFF).
Nompilo Ncube-Malaba from the Zimbabwe African National Congress – (ZANC) completes the list.
