We don’t do primary elections; we appoint our candidates says Munyanduri #ElectionsZW

By Daniel Chigundu

New Innovative and Modenisation Front (NIMF) leader Tendai Peter Munyanduri says his political party does not hold primary elections, but they appoint their candidates.

Munyanduri’s revelation comes at a time when Zanu-PF has started conducting primary elections across the country in preparation for the 2023 General elections.

In an interview on when his party will hold their own primaries, the self-styled politician who is famed for promising citizens eggs, bacon and milk everyday if elected, indicated that candidates are appointed by the National Supreme Council.

“Thank for the question! We do not do primary elections!

“Candidates are appointed by National Supreme Council based on educational attainments profiled from grade one in terms of quantity & quality of education among those interested,” he said.

Munyanduri Lost Dismally

Munyanduri is not new to elections as he contested in the 2018 general elections and lost dismally.

His party also contested for Parliamentary seats in the 2022 by-elections elections but failed to win a single parliamentary or local authority seat.

It, however, remains to be seen how they (NIMF) will fair in the general elections schedule for between July and August this year.

NIMF is one of the many political parties that have indicated their willingness to contest in the 2023 general elections.

It will also be interesting to see how many will be able to raise enough funds required for nomination courts.

Munyanduri in several of his campaigns has been pushing the narrative that a country should be ruled by an engineer and has criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Nelson Chamisa, who are both lawyers.

He is of the view that the two top politicians in the country cannot solve the country’s problem using their legal education, arguing that Zimbabwe needs engineering solutions.

The self-styled politician often campaigns at funerals and bank queues among other areas.

Munyanduri just like any other candidate is hopefully that he will be victorious in the 2023 general elections.
