Youthful activist Makomborero Haruzivishe says their campaign is about educating people of Zimbabwe about the causes of their suffering.

Zimbabweans are facing a lot of challenges politically, socially and economically.

The challenges have also seen human rights activists, political activists and journalists being arrested for expressing themselves.

Some of the activists that have been arrested include Alan Moyo, Hopewell Chin’ono, Takudzwa Ngadziore, Job Sikhala and Fadzayi Mahere.

Chin’ono, Sikhala and Mahere are out on bail, while Moyo is still behind bars since December.

Since 2000, Zimbabwe has made international headlines for violating human rights, especially freedom of expression.

This has seen the European Union and the United States imposing sanctions on certain government officials and companies.

Haruzivishe who together with some activists staged a flash demonstration said they want people to know that their suffering is a result of state capture.

In an interview with Magi on Magamba TV’s Take Down, Haruzivishe said, “It’s now a sustained campaign where we are educating the people on the causes of their problems which is primarily state capture and also on institutions which are captured like the justice system on how it is no longer serving public justice.

“How can we continue having trust in the courts of laws when they consistently or are synonymous with abusing citizens.

“Abusing those they are supposed to be protecting. They are supposed to be an equaliser but they are now being used as weapons of oppression,” he said.

Haruzivishe added that the more he is arrested, the more courageous he gets to fight more.

He said they are no longer hiding from the authorities but they are instead taking the fight to the corridors of power.

Meanwhile, the activist has also called for the release of Alan Moyo from prison and other people arrested for demonstrating. Get More Covid-19 Stats on CovidZW.info
