Vimbai Midzi: I am inspired by Fadzayi Mahere
SHARE

Vimbai Midzi, daughter of the late Amos Midzi says she is inspired by MDC Alliance national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere.

Midzi says she has watched Mahere from afar and is greatly impressed by the way she conducts herself.

In an interview on Women Creative Wednesday, Midzi said Mahere has made her see politics from a different perspective is greatly inspired.

‘’There are so many, but I think in terms of women, Fadzayi Mahere is definitely somebody that I watch from afar and I have really been impressed in terms of her ability to speak her mind in an incredibly difficult world, or circumstances.

‘’I think when you are in politics it is the kind of space whereas a woman you are subjected to different kinds of violence. Including physical violence. And so the fact that she has remained so resolute in the way that she has set her politics. She speaks her mind. She speaks from a place of knowledge as well she isn’t kind of spewing nonsense which is what we tend to see.

‘’I am really inspired by that and so yes I will choose Fadzayi because in the last few years she has really made a dent in terms of how we view politics in Zimbabwe,’’ she said.

I have no interest in joining politics

Midzi said she has no interest in joining politics and is not inspired by MDC and Zanu PF.

‘’In terms of joining politics, the short answer is never. I generally feel strongly about any party that exist right now and I am hoping that in future that changes. I do think that being politically involved and being politically aware is important.

‘’I think the interesting thing about being what we call a Zanu PF Kid is that I learnt a lot. I learnt about what to believe in. I learnt that politics does not serve the greater purpose of the people of Zimbabwe at large.

‘’So the political education I got from being my father’s daughter was to not do everything that he did basically. And I think at the end of the day it’s about making sure we are represented in a way that makes sense. Representatives of all the needs that all of the Zimbabweans have. Those who are at home and those that are abroad and I don’t see a party that really is going in that direction.

‘’I am more oppositional in my politics in general. However, I don’t even know which of the MDCs will I join but at this point. I will not join any party. I know politics is not for me, I like some privacy in my life. I saw what it did to my dad I am not interested in living that kind of life,’’ she said.
