Mnangagwa will lose power because of his Ministers, says Mutodi

Goromonzi West legislator Energy Mutodi has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to act on his current ministers if he wants to win the 2023 general elections.

Zimbabwe is heading for crucial polls in 2023, which is the second election without Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai as candidates.

The elections present another arena for Mnangagwa and Nelson Chamisa of the Citizens Coalition for Change to show who has the people.

In 2028 Chamisa narrowly lost to Mnangagwa although he argues that he is the win and that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) tempered with the results.

The narrow win by Mnangagwa did not please many in the ruling Zanu PF party, making the 2023 general election another scary moment.

However, former deputy minister of information and publicity Energy Mutodi is of the view that the current crop of ministers does not inspire confidence in the electorate.

He believes that their poor showing in trying to revive the chronic economy could be a deciding factor in 2023.

Writing on his Twitter the musician-cum politician said President Mnangagwa needs to take effective action to save the situation.

‘’Zanu PF will not be able to retain power with its current cabinet.

‘’President ED (Emmerson) Mnangagwa is being called upon to take immediate and effective action to extricate the party from a humiliating defeat,’’ he said.

This is the 2nd time Mutodi predicting Mnangagwa’s defeat

However, this is not the first time that Mutodi has predicted Mnangagwa’s defeat this year, as, towards the March 26 by-elections, he also indicated that Chamisa was gaining popularity in the country due to the failure of Zanu PF to listen to young people.

Some commentators are of the view that there is fierce factionalism in Zanu PF which has seen some people losing their posts or portfolios while others have had candidates imposed in their constituencies ahead of the 2023 elections.

Just recently Buhera South legislator Joseph Chinotimba publicly denounced Mnangagwa for imposing a candidate in his constituency before he called to State House to explain himself and apologise.

Although it is not confirmed, some believe that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and Local Government Minister July Moyo are among those leading factions in the party.

Mnangagwa came to power through a coup orchestrated by the military in November of 2017 dubbed Operation Restore Legacy, which removed long-time leader Mugabe.
