MDC Alliance vice president Welshman Ncube has dismissed news circulating on social media that he is quitting politics to take up an international job.
Ncube who is one of the veteran opposition politicians in Zimbabwe since 2000 said there is no truth in the matter.
Writing on Twitter, the legislator-cum politician described it as an old recycled decampaigning news.
“Woke up this morning to the old news (this being recycled decampaign news used in the run-up to the Gweru Congress) that I am quitting the MDC Alliance to take up some international job somewhere.
“Someone somewhere is waging psychological warfare. I am not going anywhere,” he said.
Before joining hands with other political parties to form the MDC Alliance, Ncube was the leader of MDC-N.
MDC-N was the third biggest political party in Zimbabwe in terms of seats in Parliament and also the number of votes.
During the period 2009-2013, MDC-N was part of the inclusive government that was formed after the disputed 2008 Presidential elections.
Ncube’s message comes barely a day after form MDC Alliance Standing Committee member Lilian Timveos joined Zanu PF.
Timveos who was recalled from Parliament by MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora had resigned from politics.
The alleged false news on Ncube is believed to be part of efforts to destroy the MDC Alliance which is fronted by Nelson Chamisa.
Chamisa’s outfit has been at the receiving end of both Zanu PF and MDC-T assault, especially after the court judgement.
Recently, Morgen Komichi told party members at the Morgan Tsvangirai lecture that they are making efforts to stop Chamisa from using the name MDC Alliance.
MDC-T led by Mwonzora now boast of most founding members of the party such as Paurina Mpariwa, Gift Chimanikire and Thokozani Khupe among others.
However, the party is currently embroiled in leadership wrangles between Mwonzora and Khupe over the recently held congress.
Khuke alleges it was undemocratic, while Mwonzora says its now water under the bridge.
