PVO Bill: Here is why it is bad
Under the PVO Bill that was recently gazetted, the Minister can designate any organisations deemed high risk or vulnerable to terrorism abuse and require them to register as PVOs.
‘’Any trusts “collecting contributions from the public or outside the country” for prescribed charitable purposes, may be served with a declaration by the Registrar of PVOs that they must register as a PVO or swear not to collect such funds from the public or outside the country. Failure to do so results in criminal liability.
