After Mugabe’s Impeachment motion by Monica Mutsvangwa, Who Will Push for Mnangagwa’s Removal
Blessed Geza, also known as “Comrade Bombshell,” recently announced plans to impeach President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
He said “the die has been cast,” and the motion is already in motion. However, the question that remains unanswered is: who will move the motion in Parliament?
For a motion to appear on the Parliament Order Paper, it must be moved by a Member of Parliament (MP) and seconded by another MP.
So, among the 377 MPs currently in Parliament (there are three vacant seats, bringing the total to 380), who will move Blessed Geza’s impeachment motion?

Does Geza command support from some ZANU PF MPs currently in Parliament? Or will he bank on the fractured and divided opposition legislators?
The opposition is split into three factions, allegedly led by Nelson Chamisa, Sengezo Tshabangu, and Welshman Ncube.
Is it safe for a ZANU PF MP to move the motion?
Ahead of the 2018 elections, President Emmerson Mnangagwa warned members of ZANU PF whom he claimed were plotting to impeach him. He reminded them that the country’s constitution includes a recall clause.
While it’s unclear whether the mover of the motion would be safe, the firing of the Varakashi leader, the recall of an MP, the suspension of others, and Mutsvangwa’s comments on recent security reshuffles do not paint a reassuring picture.
Who moved Robert Mugabe’s impeachment motion?
In 2017, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa moved the motion to impeach President Robert Mugabe. It was seconded by former Mabvuku-Tafara legislator James Maridadi.
This was confirmed by Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda when he made the announcement on November 21, 2017:
“The Chair wishes to inform the House that today, 21 November 2017, Presiding Officers received a notice of motion to remove the President from office as prescribed in Section 97 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
”The mover of the motion is Hon. Senator Mutsvangwa, seconded by Hon. Maridadi. In terms of both substantive and procedural compliance, I have found the motion to be admissible…,” he said. Watch Robert Mugabe Impeachment DEBATE:
Impeachment is not an ordinary motion — it is a structured process with clearly outlined rules of procedure. Its success also hinges on the political will of legislators.
