Geza Faces Setback in Impeachment Bid as Parliament Adjourns to May 6
By Danie Chigundu
Blessed Geza, also known as “Comrade Bombshell,” who is on a quest to impeach President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been dealt a blow in his efforts as Parliament has adjourned to the 6th of May.
Parliament in its last sitting on the 3rd of April had adjourned to the 8th of April 2025. The National Assembly and the Senate only met for about seven minutes to make announcements and further adjourn sittings to the 6th of May.
”On the motion of HON. TOGAREPI, seconded by HON. NYANDORO, the House adjourned at Twenty-Two Minutes past Two o’clock p.m. until Tuesday, 6th May 2025,” read the National Assembly Hansard of Tuesday 8 April.
”On the motion of HON. SEN. GOTORA, seconded by HON. SEN. NCUBE, the Senate adjourned at Twenty-Six Minutes to Three o’clock p.m. until Tuesday, 6th May, 2025,” read the Senate Hansard

Could it be for Easter or ZITF?
However, the adjournment could be due to the Easter Holiday and the upcoming Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), which takes place in Bulawayo. A majority of MPs and ministers typically attend the event (ZITF), and this means that during this period, the executive will not be available to conduct government business.
Geza had earlier indicated his intention to move the impeachment motion this week, adding that “the die has been cast,” and that “the motion is already in motion.”
The adjournment means Geza will now have to wait for nearly a month before the motion can be introduced in the National Assembly—provided he has a mover.
For a motion to be included on the Parliament Order Paper, it must be moved by a Member of Parliament (MP) and seconded by another MP. Currently, there is no indication of who will move or second the motion on Geza’s behalf.

Who will move the Impeachment Motion for Geza?
Could it be a Zanu PF MP or an MP from the opposition party in Parliament, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)? That remains to be seen.
However, several people on social media platforms such as Facebook and X remain skeptical about the impeachment effort, arguing that it faces significant hurdles due to the composition of the 10th Parliament.
Zanu PF currently holds the majority, thanks to its strong showing in the 2023 general elections. It would take a miracle of biblical proportions to convince these MPs to support the motion—especially considering the risk of recall.
Still, nothing is impossible in Zimbabwean politics. In 2017, some Zanu PF MPs turned against the then-President and supported an impeachment motion that eventually led to his resignation.
