#ElectionsZW: Kambizi Party looking for candidates to field in by-elections
Kambizi Party leader Henry Mutasa says his political party is going to contest in the upcoming by-elections and is looking for candidates around.
Zimbabwe is set to hold by-elections to fill vacancies in the National Assembly on the 26th of March this year.
Several opposition parties have indicated their intentions to contest, and Kambizi Party is among them.
In an interview, Mutasa said he is on the ground looking for candidates for both the Parliamentary by-elections and local authorities.
There are currently 28 vacant seats in Parliament and about 130 in local authorities around the country.
‘’Definitely (contesting in by-elections) that is what I am doing right now. I am running around to get 130 people to contest the ward council and nearly 30 people I think for the national assembly seats across Zimbabwe.
‘’I want my party to contest so that we can test our strength a year before the elections,’’ he said.
Mutasa is on the ground looking for candidates
Mutasa said he currently has a few people interested to stand on his party ticket and is on the ground looking for more.
He added that the response has been overwhelming as people are eager to play a role in developing the country.
‘’I have got a few candidates, but they are very few I would rather say I don’t have the candidates, I have around 24 people who are prepared to take the seats for the national assembly slots but those are very few.
‘’So, I just assume that I don’t have any and I am starting the exercise today to make sure that in the next week I have identified those 130 forward councils and those 30 something for the national assembly seats.
‘’People are very interested although the real exercise starts today, I had a meeting with ZEC to discuss a few things, the response is very good, people want to try their chance to get in Parliament and council and develop their country especially the young people they want jobs they want US Dollars,’’ he said.
