Chamisa’s Convoy Attacked Again
Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) President Nelson Chamisa’s convoy was attacked last Sunday in Chinhoyi when an unknown assailant in a silver car threw explosives at the convoy as it made its way into the Gadzema stadium.
In a gesture to show appreciation to the electorate for their support during the March 2022 by-elections, CCC is holding Thank-You Rallies in all the locations where the party won elections.
Party members were startled and agitated by the suspected bombs. This lead the CCC Organizing Secretary Amos Chibaya to calm them down and continue with the proceedings.
“We are here to stay; don’t flee. These are works by ZanuPF.
“We must never, ever, ever flee from ZanuPF.
“Fear not; they are the works of people who lost the election,” said Chibaya
However, this is not the first time Chamisa’s convoy has been attacked. However, the perpetrators are suspected to be from the ruling party ZanuPF members.
During Chamisa’s nationwide tour before the March by-elections, his convoy was blocked and attacked in Masvingo and Manicaland. The trend has continued even after the by-elections.
CCC Statement
According to a statement by CCC National Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere, explosives were also thrown at the stadium the night before.
“As the motorcade of our Change Champion in Chief Advocate Nelson Chamisa, approached the entrance of the venue, a silver sedan vehicle AFA 1651 sped past and threw explosives at the convoy.
“This incident happened hours after petroleum bombs had been thrown at the venue last night (Saturday) as our advance team was setting up for today’s gathering.
“We condemn this cowardly act,” said Mahere.
Mahere added that the lasted attack comes badly a month after Chamisa’s life was threaded in Wedza and Gokwe Kabuyuni.
The opposition has been attacked time again yet the perpetrators are most often not apprehended.
