A Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) official Leopold Mudisi was attacked by both his fellow party members and ZANU PF supporters during a Public hearing at Vugwi Community Centre in Mberengwa on Thursday.
Mudisi, who contested for the Mberengwa Ward 7 seat and lost to Mecky Jaravaza of ZANU PF, wanted to give his views during the hearing.
However, commotion broke out as soon as he stood due to suspicions and misunderstandings.
His fellow party members suspected that he wanted to endorse the controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill No3 and sought to block him.
Meanwhile, ZANU PF members know him as an opposition member and thought he wanted to speak out against CAB3.
The scenario caused much commotion until Senator Maybe Mbowa, who was chairing requested that Mudisi come and speak from the front.
The former aspiring Councillor proved his party members correct when he spoke in support of the Bill.
Mudisi said the Bill is progressive and commended government for the invitative.
According to sources Mudisi is now part of the Cllr Mavhenyengwa-led Cllrs4ED outfit.
The incident with Mudisi was one of two such incidents with the rest of the hearing flowing smoothly.
This was due to the strict vetting of people at the gates and doors by ZANU PF marshals.
All those who were suspected of being opposition were blocked from entering the premises.
The ruling party has been running a tight ship during the hearings, which ended on 2 April, making sure only positive opinions get spoken.
While in rural areas many dissenting voices have been blocked much opposition has been expressed against the Bill in Urban areas.
