Main opposition party Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim leader Jameson Timba and 77 party activists face extended jail time.
The State Thursday requested a postponement of their appeal to next Tuesday, needing time to respond to the application.
High Court judge Justice Lucy Mungwari allowed the postponement, further delaying their possible freedom.
“The state wants to consolidate another bail appeal set for hearing tomorrow with today’s appeal.
“They undertook to respond to our application by tomorrow, so we conceded to that application despite not receiving any response from the state after serving them the appeal.
“The court postponed the matter to next Tuesday. It is unfortunate our champions will spend the weekend in prison,” said their lawyer, Agency Gumbo.
The group will have spent a month in jail by July 16.
They were initially denied bail by Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo, who ruled they were likely to reoffend if released.
Timba’s son was released on bail following confirmation of his involvement in a dragnet arrest.
Another suspect, a minor, was also released into his mother’s custody.
Timba took over from former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, who resigned in January this year.
The activists claimed they were brutalized by arresting officers and that women were humiliated, made to strip and crawl in front of men.
One female suspect sustained a broken leg and underwent surgery to correct her injuries.
