Former Vice President Kembo Mohadi who resigned out of shame following alleged sex scandals has been deployed to the Zanu PF headquarters on a full-time basis.
Mohadi in his new role, will oversee the party’s affairs and business.
He joins a host of other party bigwigs who have been deployed to the party’s headquarters on a full-time basis. These include Patrick Chinamasa and Simon Khaya Moyo, among others.
Addressing the media after a politburo meeting, Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo confirmed the decision.
‘’Vice President and Second Secretary of the party, Comrade Kembo Mohadi has been redeployed fulltime at the party headquarters and will be fully in charge of party affairs business,’’ he said.
Mohadi is believed to be one of the alleged factional leaders in Zanu PF who are angling to succeed Mnangagwa.
Chinamasa appointed acting national commissar
Meanwhile, Khaya Moyo also announced that Patrick Chinamasa has been appointed Zanu PF’s action national political commissar.
Chinamasa takes over the position from Victor Matemadanda who has been given an ambassadorial post in Mozambique.
“Comrade Patrick Chinamasa has been appointed the party’s acting national political commissar until the President appoints a substantitive national political commissar.
“Comrade Victor Matemadanda is outgoing and now Ambassador to Mozambique and comrade Chinamasa is now our acting national political commissar for the party,” he said.
Zanu PF has also appointed under fire Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi to the politburo.
Ziyambi has been under fire in the past weeks following the passing of Amendment Bill No.2.
The Bill resulted in President Emmerson Mnangagwa extending the term of Chief Justice Luke Malaba who had reached retirement age.
Mnangagwa’s appointment of Malaba was thrown out by the courts, following a challenge by human rights lawyer Musa Kika.
The government has, however, appealed the decision and the matter is yet to be heard.
