Gift Mambipiri wins Kadoma Central seat #ElectionsZW

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate for Kadoma Central Constituency Gift Mambipiri has won the election to keep the opposition’s dominance in the constituency.

Mambipiri polled 14 940 votes against closest rival Cosmas Dhaka of Zanu PF who polled 7 956 votes, while Dzikamai Mamamuti of MDC-T was third with 476 votes.

By Winning the seat, Mambipiri takes over from Muchineripi Chinyanganya who was the MP in the 9th Parliament.

The opposition has generally dominated Kadoma Central since the formation of MDC in 1999. In the 2000 Parliamentary elections, then MDC candidate, the late Austin Mpandawana, won the seat.

However, following his untimely death in 2003, Zanu PF through Ishmail Mutema took the seat through a by-election.

The opposition took back the seat through Editor Matamisa, before it was taken back by Zanu PF through Fani Fanuel Phiri during the period of the inclusive government.

In 2018, the opposition now trading under the banner of MDC Alliance reclaimed the seat with Muchineripi Chinyanganya , who lost the seat to Mambipiri in the 2023 general election.
