President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged Zanu PF to work hard in a bid to fulfil the party’s 2018 election promises.

Zanu PF made a wide range of promises courtesy of its election manifesto, however, most of the promises have not been implemented.

Among the promises are employment creation, modern trains, fighting corruption, sound healthcare system among others.

With a little over two years before the 2023 elections, many Zimbabwe has been left wondering if the party was sincere in its promises.

However, addressing the 349th Ordinary Session of the Politburo, President Mnangagwa rallied his charges to put all hands on deck.

“Let us all strive to work harder with initiative, creativity, persistence and focus towards fulfilling our 2018 election manifesto and the National Development Strategy 1.

“We have an appointment with destiny in 2030. A resounding party victory in 2023 is merely an enabler to the achievement of our national vision.

“We cannot afford to sleep,” he said.

President Mnangagwa also urged Zanu PF members to be tolerant of different perspectives and strategies, adding that the party is democratic.

“I expect a greater sense of responsibility and agency in the development and implementation of party programs, from party headquarters right up to the districts.

“Diversity and differences in perspectives in approaches and strategies are welcome to the party, after all, such as the nature of democracy.

“However divergence of views should never create hostility and conflicts within our ranks,” he said.

The politburo comes a few days after the resignation of Vice President Kembo Mohadi who is embroiled in alleged sex scandals.

Mohadi threw in the towels as more recorded phone calls of his alleged efforts to bed married subordinates dominated social media.

He, however, denies wrongdoing and accuses his political enemies of blackmailing him into resigning. Get more Covid-19 Stats from CovidZW.info
